A new series of Video tutorials, commissioned by World Agroforestry (ICRAF), have been created for Simile. They include a starter on the basics of system dynamic modelling in ecosystem study, and go on to cover advanced Simile techniques such as discrete event-based and agent-based modelling.
Simile is now available as a Debian package for the new generation of tiny single-board computers built on the ARM64 architecture. This allows Simile models to be incorporated into home automation and IoT projects. These devices can typically run Armbian, LMDE or Ubuntu.
Database access has now been completely overhauled. This means that model parameters can be read from a MySQL database in Linux, and reading them from an ODBC source such as .xls works in 64-bit Windows. .xlsb, .xlsm and .xlsx formats can also be used, and the data logger tool can write to any of these in Windows and to MySQL in Linux
