I have a CSV file with 140 indices in one column (the first column)
each indice then has 206 values which are represented as one value
per column.
that makes 206 columns of data. (28,840 separate values)
i need to import this table into simile so that it forms a data structure like this
[#1 {#1 .........#206},#2...........#140 {#1......#206}]
where #1 to #140 are part of a fixed membership submodel
and #1 to #206 are arrays for each of the instances.
for demonstrations sake, i feel that it would be
good to be able to view a link in the comments field
that pops up when you run your pointer over a
specific variable or flow etc.
This link could take the observer to the relevant page/chapter/web page
that documents and describes that section in detail and the reason for
its existence etc..
i have too much to say to put the text/explanatory graphs in the popup box as it would make the box too big and annoying.
i have a blank work sheet
i create a submodel with nothing in it
i then double click on it so that i can adjust the number of instances
of that submodel and an error message comes up saying something
like 'dissagreggation already exists in parent'
this is after closing simile, and then opening a blank worksheet..
So, I have a stand-alone sub-model that also holds several submodels of its own. I load this into a new submodel window, but it always ends up being TEENY - as in microscopic. If I play around with the new submodel window, then I end up with a grid background that is oversized. I like to keep things neat and pretty, so not having a relevant scaled grid background is disappointing. How can I load this submodel into a new submodel so that I can still read and see the parameters?
Does anyone else encounter somewhat irritating problems with resizing the view in your model diagram window? Whenever I open a saved model, it usually opens up off center. On frequent occasions, when I zoom or "zoom to fit", I lose the bottom scroll bar even if the entire model is not displayed on the screen. I also think that in an older version (I'm using 4.4 now) there was a "hand" tool that would let you "move" the grid display around? Whether a real or imagined former utility, it would be greatly appreciated in any future versions.
I have a problem trying to move submodels. In the help file
there is an entry for a toolbar button that is supposed to exist:
"Using a submodel to move blocks of model elements around", with a "hand" tool.
However, that button is not present in the toolbar of Simile4.4 for MacOS X.
I can only count 16 tools in total, the 4 rightmost being
the Text tool, Select tool, Ghost tool and Inspect tool ....
I try to model a soil cross section using a submodel of m*n instances. Since I have lots of parameter for each of the m*n cells, I need to use a .csv file to enter the total description of the soil. Unfortunately, I don't manage to do this : there is no problem with a vector but when I try to use a matrix of parameters, I tear off my hair... Could soe explain me precisely how can the csv file be loaded on Simile 44?
thank you.
Firstly,
Congrats on having such a good peice of software.
i personally have had my horizons broadened as a result
of this software, the visual aspect greatly assists conceptual
development of what i am trying to represent as a model
Secondly,
i have a largeish model with lots of variables and flows etc
i seem to have a problem at the moment because i have to
customize the text and line sizes and so on every time i enter
the model as it doesnt seem to be saving these customizations
I assumed that if I select a submodel to copy and paste that all the variables within that submodel would also go along with the paste. This doesn't appear to be the case. Any tips on how to quickly and easily paste a submodel from one model to another?
