Installing Simile 5.96 on Windows 7 (Could not access VBScript)

I've been installing the teaching edition of Simile 5.96 on my student's laptops.

On a couple of machines the install has failed with the error "Could not access VBScript runtime for custom action".

Would you be able to suggest how I could install Simile on these machines?

Thanks

Jon

VBScript is used by Simile's installation process, but not by Simile itself. I have not seen this problem before, but you might get some help from Advanced Installer (www.advancedinstaller.com) who supplied the software for building the Simile installer. We are currently using version 8.13 of this software, and might need to rebuild our releases with a newer version -- however I am away from the office and out of Internet contact for the next two weeks, so maybe they can just tell you something that can be done to the laptops that will fix the installation process.

Thanks.  I've given the support team at Advanced Installer an email.

All the best

Jon

The problem is probably incorrect registry entries for Windows VB scripting. It is an OS-wide problem but custom install scripts are among the most common casualties. There is a Microsoft fix-it and more information  in the the post linked below.

Cheers,

Jonathan,
